Goodness-of-fit testing under long memory
نویسنده
چکیده
In this talk we shall discuss the problem of fitting a distribution function to the marginal distribution of a long memory process. It is observed that unlike in the i.i.d. set up, classical tests based on empirical process are relatively easy to implement. More importantly, we discuss fitting the marginal distribution of the error process in location, scale and linear regression models. An interesting observation is that the first order difference between the residual empirical process and the null model can not be used to asymptotically to distinguish between the two marginal distributions that differ only in their means. This finding is in sharp contrast to a recent claim of Chan and Ling (2008) that such a process has a Gaussian weak limit. We shall also proposes some tests based on the second order difference in this case and analyze some of their properties. Another interesting finding is that residual empirical process tests in the scale problem are robust against not knowing the scale parameter. The third finding is that in linear regression models with a non-zero intercept parameter the first order difference between the empirical d.f. of residuals and the null d.f. can not be used to fit an error d.f. An Updated Review of Goodness of Fit Tests Based on Entropy
Different approaches to goodness of fit (GOF) testing are proposed. This survey intends to present the developments on Goodness of Fit based on entropy during the last 50 years, from the very first origins until the most recent advances for different data and models. Goodness of fit tests based on Shannon entropy was started by Vasicek in 1976 and were continued by many authors. In this paper, ...

The purpose of the present study is to develop and evaluate psychometric properties of the Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Skills of Couples Scale (IISCS). In terms of testing, the research method was of descriptive type and the sampled statistical population included married men and women living in the city of Tehran, Iran. In this respect, 470 Iranian married men and women (277 women and 193 ...
متن کاملOn distribution-free goodness-of-fit testing of exponentiality
Local, or better, contiguous alternatives are the closest alternatives against which it is still possible to have some power. With this in mind we would like to think of goodness-of-fit tests as those which have some power against all, or a huge majority, of local alternatives. Tests of that kind are often based on nonlinear functionals, with a complicated asymptotic null distribution. Therefor...
متن کاملPower Divergence Family of Tests for Categorical Time Series Models
A fundamental issue that arises after fitting a regression model is that of testing the goodness of the fit. Our work brings together the power divergence family of goodness of fit tests and regression models for categorical time series. We show that under some reasonable assumptions, the asymptotic distribution of the power divergence family of goodness of fit tests converges to a normal rando...
متن کاملTesting goodness of fit of a uniform truncation model.
Several goodness-of-fit tests of a lifetime distribution have been suggested in the literature; many take into account censoring and/or truncation of event times. In some contexts, a goodness-of-fit test for the truncation distribution is of interest. In particular, better estimates of the lifetime distribution can be obtained when knowledge of the truncation law is exploited. In cross-sectiona...
متن کاملEstimate-based goodness-of-fit test for large sparse multinomial distributions
The Pearson’s chi-squared statistic (X2) does not in general follow a chi-square distribution when it is used for goodness-of-fit testing for a multinomial distribution based on sparse contingency table data. We explore properties of Zelterman’s (1987) D2 statistic and compare them with those of X2 and we also compare these two statistics and the statistic (Lr) which is proposed by Maydeu-Oliva...
